Vessel Introduction:
This series of vessels is a 15,000 TEU dual-fuel container ship built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. for CMA CGM, with a total of six ships. The length of these ship models is 366 meters, with a beam of 51 meters, and a service speed of 22 knots. They are equipped with the GTT Mark III LNG containment system, characterized by large cargo capacity, advanced technology, and energy-saving and environmental protection features.
The refitted ships in this batch utilize a new generation of globally intelligent controlled exhaust gas recirculation (iCER) dual-fuel main engines. These engines can automatically track and dynamically adjust the ratio of air and gas through specific algorithms. Compared to previous models, methane emissions in gas mode can be reduced by 50%, and greenhouse gas emissions can be decreased by more than 28%.
CMA CGM MAUI
According to Yang Wenbing(杨文炳), the chief quality engineer of the ship, this vessel is the first to adopt the dual-line construction model for dual-fuel container ships. The construction team orderly connected the dual trials of two ships, successfully achieved the reuse of surplus liquid, and saved costs of 2.43 million yuan.
Another major challenge of dual-line construction is the inspection of the FGSS gas supply system. To ensure that subsequent ships have enough time for testing and preparation, the Production Operation Department III, in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Department, Jiangnan Research Institute, and the General Assembly Department, conducted many drills and ultimately completed the work one week in advance. This laid the foundation for the intensive inspection of the FGSS gas supply system and further shortened the dock construction period.
While ensuring the orderly production, the construction team tried to explore and promote digital shipbuilding. On the basis of "simulated box testing," they have begun to research "simulated lashing." It is expected to be verified on the next two ships in this series.
